Je sais que je suis un peu tardive pour ma nouvelle année mais mieux vaut tard que jamais. Donc je fais le point sur 2014 et 2015 question couture.
I know I'm kind of late for this, but better late than never. So here is my 2014 yearly recap.
Tout d'abord je n'ai pas fait autant de couture que je l'aurais voulu. En grande partie car j'ai passé un semestre en Italie et que je n'ai pas pu y emporter ma machine à coudre (et que sur place je n'avais vraiment pas d'espace).
I didn't do as much sewing as i would have liked to, mainly because of my semester in Italy where i could not bring my sewing machine and the lack of space i had back there.
Notamment, je n'ai rempli aucun projet du HSF cette année, alors que je voulais en faire une dizaine. Cependant, j'ai tout de même cousu et voilà un petit medley de ce que j'ai pu faire cette année :
I did none of those marvelous HSF projects that i wanted to do. But I still sew a bit and here is what i did :
La robe bleue, Lise, est arrêtée pour le moment et donc non terminée. Il y a aussi ma Petite Robe Noire façon Audrey Hepburn dont je n'ai pas de photos et ma jupe 18ème qui est terminée Sur laquelle je ferais un petit post dès que je la récupérerais et pourrais donc en faire des photos :)
The blue dress, Lise, is stopped for now and not finished yet. There also is my Little Black Dress, the Audrey Hepburn way which i don't have photos of at the finished stage yet and my 18th century grey petticoat which is done and about which a post is coming when i get it back and can take photos of it.

Tout d'abord j'ai découvert un petit quelque chose de plus abordable que le HSF, il s'agit Historical Sew Monthly (HSM), hébergé par la même couturière/blogueuse que le HSF mais propose moins de défis : 12 par ans. (EDIT : C'est en fait la même chose puisqu'elle a simplement décidé de changer le titre et le nombre de challenges pour cette année, ce qui me va sans nul doute beaucoup mieux !) Mon but étant d'avancer mon projet de robe grise 18ème, principalement.
First of all I discovered something more feasible than HSF : the Historical Sew Monthly (HSM), hosted by the same blogger. It propose less challenges : 12 per year. (EDIT: It actually is a change she made instead of an additional "competition", and this change suits me very much !) My purpose being to mainly advance my 18th century dress project.

- February – Colour Challenge Blue: Make an item that features blue, in any shade from azure to zaffre.
- Quelque chose de bleu. Et pourquoi pas des bas ?

- March – Stashbusting: Make something using only fabric, patterns, trims & notions that you already have in stash.
- Depuis des choses déjà achetées. Je trouverais bien quelque chose à faire quand j'aurais récupéré mes affaires...
- Whenever i'll get my stuff back, i'll probably find something to do !
- April – War & Peace: the extremes of conflict and long periods of peacetime both influence what people wear. Make something that shows the effects of war, or of extended peace.
- Guerre et paix. Là, franchement, je suis pas inspirée, je ferais sans doute du hors sujet.
- Really not inspired by this one, i may do something else entierly...
- May – Practicality: Fancy party frocks are all very well, but everyone, even princesses, sometimes needs a practical garment that you can DO things in. Create the jeans-and-T-Shirt-get-the-house-clean-and-garden-sorted outfit of your chosen period.
- Pratique. Et pourquoi pas un tablier pour ne pas salir ma jupe ?

- June – Out of Your Comfort Zone: Create a garment from a time period you haven’t done before, or that uses a new skill or technique that you’ve never tried before.
- Hors de ma Zone de Confort. À peu près tous les projets pour ma robe grise correspondent vu que c'est mon premier costume d'époque. Peut-être le haut de la robe ?
- Well, kind of everything historical is out of my comfort zone... Maybe the bodice of the dress ?
- July – Accessorize: The final touch of the right accessory creates the perfect period look. Bring an outfit together by creating an accessory to go with your historical wardrobe.
- Accessoiriser. Toute femme bien mise se doit de sortir avec une coiffe, alors pourquoi pas moi ?
- A coiffe to go out in my outfit and not look underdressed.
- August – Heirlooms & Heritage: Re-create a garment one of your ancestors wore or would have worn, or use an heirloom sewing supply to create a new heirloom to pass down to the next generations.
- Héritage. Euh, comme pour Juin je dirais... donc sans doute un autre morceau de la tenue ^^
- Kind of everything about my dress fits here ...
- September – Colour Challenge Brown: it’s not the most exciting colour by modern standards, but brown has been one of the most common, and popular, colours throughout history. Make something brown.
- Brun. Peut-être un tablier (oui encore ^^) mais pour une femme de statut social plus faible (et donc plus sombre et plus pratique).
- Another apron, but brown, to acccessorize down the dress.
- October – Sewing Secrets: Hide something in your sewing, whether it is an almost invisible mend, a secret pocket, a false fastening or front, or a concealed message (such as a political or moral allegiance).
- Secret. Je trouverai bien quelque chose...
- No doubt i'll find something !
- November – Silver Screen: Be inspired by period fashions as shown onscreen (film or TV), and recreate your favourite historical costume as a historically accurate period piece.
- TV. Euh... pas tellement inspirée. Peut-être une robe façon Orgueil et préjugés, même si ce n'est pas ma période préférée...
- Once again, not inspired. Maybe a dress from Pride and prejudice although it's not my favorite period ...
- December – Re-Do: It’s the last challenge of the year, so let’s keep things simple by re-doing any of the previous 11 challenges.
- Re-faire un challenge. Probablement le premier, il me faudrait une nouvelle chemise de corps, plus proprement faite et plus adaptée à une classe moyenne/basse de dame...
- Probably the first challenge and a new chemise, more adapted to a simpler class and better sewn...
Sur toute la liste, il y a donc deux sujets qui ne me tentent pas. Je ferai peut-être autre chose à la place, probablement quelque chose de moderne. Il me faudrait un pantalon...
So, two subjects out of twelve just don't inspire me, i might do something else entirely or just keep going on the dress... I also need a pair of pants...
